A further coat of lacquer has been added to the entire body to help protect the sign work etc. With the debut only a little more than 24hrs away there still seems an awful lot to do but with a little luck we aim to be out racin' at COV 07/06/03!

As ever a huge thank you goes to to an army of friends, helpers and sponsors.  Without all the good will Team Fairhust have been shown this would not have been possible!

. The car awaits collection at the paintshop so we can get on with some work!! Thanks to Chris Johnson of Boundary Garage (Bury) LTD who "burned the midnight oil" on more than one occasion during the paint process.

25th May 2003

Just a quick visit today to pick up the sign written panels for a final coat of lacquer and to see how things are progressing.

Dash, gauges, brake pedal, firewall and rear engine mounting now in place.

Front axle, new coil overs, grille and bonnet flute grilles fitted. A coat of paint for the bell housing,  Bob in the background modifying the front engine mounting.

18th May 2003

Once the car and all its' parts are returned to the garage Dave Speed of Speedys' signs can start adding the signwriting and graphics.

A combination of traditional and transfer type signs are being used on the new car, a first for the team.

Aerofoil complete (almost), it's time to move on to the main body of the car.

11th May 2003

The car is wheeled out of the spray booth after its. final coat of silver pant, lacquer and the baking process.

The bonnet and side panels are fitted to the car temporarily for safe transportation. The fitment of the panels gives a clearer picture of how the new car will eventually look.

Still with masking paper in place the car is carefully lined up to the transporter for the journey back to the Widnes workshops.

All we have to do now is put it back together!!!!

10th May 2003

After a few hours knocking some rough edges off, the chassis receives its' first coat of primer.

A shot from the rear of the car following further application of primer.

After the primer has dried and a quick check over, the chassis and cab interior is painted in (very) blue and lacquered.

12 hours after starting the preparation the aim of having all the "blue bits on day 1" are complete. The chassis is now left to air dry ready for an early start tomorrow when the cab will be painted in silver.

7th May 2003

The new shale car wing after initial paint and lacquer.

The bonnet complete with its' side panels and "coat of arms?" air filter cover (this single panel has probably caused more 'discussions' within the team than any other component on the car!  Also, just in shot, rear closing panel.

(Suggestions into website please for suitable Latin phrase for air filter cover "neverus invertus " perhaps?)

6th May 2003.

Whilst the shale chassis was having the final touches applied, some of the panels made their way over to Chris and Mike at Boundary Garage (Bury) for some detail work prior to paintwork starting.
